Extinction or Rebellion

There is no way to overstate the crisis that is now upon humanity. Even in the alarms raised by the scientific community, there is danger; we hear and read estimates that say we have this or that number of years before humanity faces “dire changes” it cannot reverse. This has the effect of causing us to be rightly alarmed while simultaneously lulling us with both its vagueness (what is dire, how dire is it, etc.) and the illusion that “we still have time” to do something that will make everything be all right.

Let us be clear: There is no time, and things are not going to be all right. We have to get it clear in our thinking and in our lived response, that the crisis is here now, and time is up for solving what can rightly be called the End. What is required of us is unprecedented, and it is to this that we must apply ourselves.
